Renshof Records NCAA B Time to Highlight Day One of PSAC Swimming Championships

Renshof finished sixth in the 50-yd freestyle, coming within 0.03 seconds of the school record

YORK, Pa. – Paced by the program's first top-eight finish in the PSAC Championships since the 2018-19 season and an NCAA 'B' time, standard the East Stroudsburg University swimming team opened day one of the conference championships on Wednesday inside the Graham Aquatic Center.

After the first day, ESU sits in 11th place with 58 points.

How It Happened – Session 1
  • Avery Fohring bested her seed time in the 200-yd individual medley by nearly 10 seconds, recording a mark of 2:18.57 for 38th place of 54 swimmers in the preliminaries.
  • In her first postseason event, Vera Renshof bested her season-best mark of 24.14 in the 50-yd freestyle, clocking a mark of 24.02 in the prelims to grab seventh place and advance to the finals.
  • Jenna Johnson recorded a time of 25.16 to best her seed time, finishing 32nd of 72 swimmers in the 50-yd freestyle.
  • Madison Tafe finished 34th (11:28.27) in the 1000-yd freestyle, just edging teammate Samantha Grayauskie who finished 35th (11:35.12) in the event.
How It Happened – Session 2
  • Vera Renshof posted her NCAA 'B' time in the finals of the 50-yd freestyle, coming within 0.03 seconds of breaking the school record with a time of 23.89. She took sixth in the event, to give ESU 22 team points. The mark is the first top-eight individual finish for a Warrior at the PSAC Championships since Oliva Lukshides took fifth place in the 100-yd freestyle in 2018-19.
  • In the 800-yd freestyle relay, the Warrior crew of Johnson, Naihomy Garcia, Tafe and Renshof combined to clock a time of 8:07.91, for 10th place to add 34 points to the Warriors' team score.

  • On day two of the PSAC Championships on Thursday, ESU is scheduled to participate  in the 100-yd butterfly (Avery Fohring), the 200-yd freestyle (Vera Renshof, Madison Tafe and Samantha Grayauskie), the 200-yd freestyle relay and the 400-ud medley relay.
