EAST STROUDSBURG – On Thursday, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference unveiled that East Stroudsburg University men's track and field student-athlete
Donavan Anderson was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year.
The Bergenfield, N.J. native becomes the first Warrior in program history to garner the indoor honors and second overall as Steve Morgan received the award during the 2014 outdoor season.
Anderson put together the one the most impressive indoor seasons in school history as the freshman earned a pair of All-America Second Team honors at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. Anderson took ninth place in the triple jump and followed it by earning a 12th place finish in the long jump.
At the PSAC Indoor Championships, Anderson scored 19 points for the Warriors by capturing the triple jump title with a personal-best mark of 15.07m (49-5) and finishing second in the long jump after surpassing a 26-year-old school record in the long jump with a leap of 7.44m (24-5). Additionally, Anderson secured an eighth place finish in the 60m dash.
During the indoor season, Anderson combined to earn four first-place finishes across the 60m, long jump and triple jump while also being tabbed the PSAC Field Athlete of the Week back on January 23.
