LEWISBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team continued day two of competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell, on Saturday at Christy Matthewson-Memorial Stadium.
Highlighting the action packed day for the Warriors was Brian McGarrity as the sophomore clocked a PSAC automatic qualifying time in the 5000m.
Decathlon Highlights
In the decathlon (blue), the Warriors had a pair of competitors with Bryan Rodrigues leading the way in 9th with 5323 points while Daniel Daley was right behind in 10th after totaling 5071 points.
Beginning the decathlon with the 100m, Rodrigues took ninth after clocking a time of 11.58 and Daley finished 13th, crossing the line in 12.14.
Moving to the sand pit for the long jump, Rodrigues captured a sixth place finish after leaping 6.33m (20-9 ¼) and Daley was ninth with a mark of 6.10m (20-0 ¼).
In the shot put, Daley paced ESU in sixth after notching a throw of 10.08m (33-1) and Rodrigues took 12th with a mark of 9.07m (29-9 ¼).
Continuing with the field events, Daley secured a third place finish in the high jump after clearing a mark of 1.84m (6-0 ½), while Rodrigues was 11th at 1.66m (5-5 ¼).
Closing out day one in the 400m, Rodrigues posted a ninth place finish with a time of 54.18 and Daley took 12th after running a 57.53. Rodrigues and Daley were neck and neck in the standings, sitting ninth (2969 points) and 10th (2884 points) respectively.
Day two of the decathlon started with the 110m hurdles as Rodrigues was sixth after crossing the line in 16.31, while Daley was right behind in seventh with a time of 16.68.
Up next was the discus with Rodrigues taking seventh after launching a throw of 25.27m (82-11), followed by Daley in 10th with a mark of 22.44m (73-7).
In the pole vault, Dailey led the Warriors duo in sixth place after clearing the at 3.25m (10-8), while Rodrigues finished eighth with a mark of 3.25m (10-8).
Moving into the javelin, Daley posted a sixth place finish with a throw of 35.43m (116-3), followed by Rodrigues in 10th at 35.43m (106-7).
Wrapping up the decathlon with 1500m, Rodrigues clocked a time of 5:04.79 to take fifth and Daley crossed the line in 5:26.46 to finish ninth.
Running Highlights
In the unseeded 5,000m, McGarrity recorded a conference qualifying time of 15:17.73 to post a 17th place finish and freshman Landon Boyle was not far behind in 22nd with a personal-best time of 15:25.72.
Field Event Highlights
Competing in the pole vault, Micah Cooper continued to impress as the sophomore took third with a personal-best height of 4.70m (15-5).
In the long jump, Jack Gorham secured a fifth place finish after posting a mark of 7.04m (23-1 ¼).
Sophomore Cole Gorham took fifth in the discus with a throw of 49.47m (162-3) on his final attempt.
