LEWISBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team concluded the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday at Christy Matthewson-Memorial Stadium.
Emmanuel Gitonga notched his first PSAC automatic qualifying time of the outdoor season in the 800m.
Running Highlights
The Warriors began the day on the track in the 4x100m with Raul Esteves, Jared Williams, Miguel Charlery and Zandray Thompson clocking a time of 42.01 to take 13th place.
With a number of Warriors competing in the 110m hurdles, Kobe Jenkins led the way in 18th with a time of 15.18 and Joshua Rand was not far behind in 21st at 15.25. Liam Beifus clocked a season-best time of 15.67 to take 31st.
ESU had a trio of top-25 finishers in the 400m hurdles led by Caleb Carney in 20th with a time of 56.62, followed by Beifus (23rd – 56.67) and Rand (24th – 56.75).
In the 800m, Gitonga posted a conference qualifying time of 1:56.97 while competing against 189 other runners in the event.
Both running season-best times in the 400m, Tyler Boone finished 15th after crossing the line in 48.79 and Zandrew Bowe took 26th at 49.44.
With six Warriors competing in the 100m, Charlery paced the way by finishing 14th with a time of 10.77. In the 200m, Esteves took 31st with a season-best time of 22.26.
Evan Wooby (48th – 9:18.77) and Camden Shaffer (59th – 9:31.02) competed in the 3000m for the Warriors.
Field Highlights
Junior Isaac Almoney recorded an eighth place finish in the hammer throw after recording a mark of 54.28m (178-1).
In the high jump, Aaron Sanchez finished tied for ninth with three other competitors as the sophomore cleared a height of 1.93m (6-4) on his first attempt.
Anthony Voto was the Warriors' highest finisher in the shot put after taking 25th with a throw of 14.50m (47-7).
