Men’s Track & Field Dominates All-American Meet by Winning 11 Events

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team dominated the 17th Annual All-American Meet on Friday afternoon, winning 11 different events at Gregory-Douds Field at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Additionally, Isaac Almoney (hammer throw) and Cole Gorham (discus) notched NCAA provisional marks in their respective events.

The Warriors captured first place finishes in the 100m, 110m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 4x400m, long jump, pole vault, shot put, hammer throw, javelin and discus.

Recording PSAC automatic qualifying marks and times for ESU was Ryan Ditty (400m), Zandray Thompson (400m), Jaylen Morrison (400m), Landon Boyle (10,000m), Daniel Daley (110m hurdles) and Robert Plumb (pole vault).

Running Highlights

With ESU having five of six competitors in the 110m hurdles, Kobe Jenkins took first with a time of 15.04, followed by Joshua Rand (15.37) as the runner-up, Liam Beifus (15.43) in third, Daley (15.79) in fourth with a PSAC automatic time and Nasir Kyle (15.96) in fifth place.

The Warriors dominated the 400m recording the top-five finishers as Ditty (49.26) won the event, Thompson (50.10) took second and Morrison (50.25) finished third. The trio each recorded a PSAC automatic qualifying time. Caleb Carney (50.50) took fourth place and Trey Boyd (51.47) was right behind in fifth.

ESU had five of the top-7 finishers on the 100m dash, led by freshman Miguel Charlery with a time of 10.94. Raul Esteves took third after crossing the line in 11.13, followed by Jared Williams in fourth after clocking a time of 11.22. Rounding out the finishes for the Warriors was Jack Gorham (11.48) in sixth and Ben Terry (11.51) in seventh.

Charlery was back on the track for the 200m, capturing his second first-place finish of the afternoon with a time of 21.88, while Esteves was right behind after crossing the line in 22.42. Williams (22.70) finished sixth, Beifus (23.29) took ninth and Bowe (23.41) rounded out the top-10.

ESU kicked off the day on the track with the 1500m as sophomore Evan Wooby finished as the runner-up with a season-best time of 4:14.22, while Justin Walters took 11th at 4:36.76.  

In the 800m, freshman Andrew Dowdell took sixth with a personal-best time of 2:07.22 and fellow classmate Evan Clark (2:07.44) was right behind in seventh place.

The Warriors wrapped up the busy afternoon with the A squad of Bowe, Ditty, Beifus and Carney taking first place in the 4x400m with a season-best time of 3:21.45.

Field Highlights

The Warriors took second through fifth in the high jump with Aaron Sanchez leading the way after the sophomore matched his season-best height of 1.95m (6-4 ¾). Followed by Daniel Smith in third (1.90m – 6-2 ¾), Daley in fourth (1.80m – 5-10 ¾) and Donavan Anderson in fifth (1.80m – 5-10 ¾).

ESU secured the top-5 finishers in the shot put as Cole Gorham took first place with a mark of 15.24m (50-0). Freshman Anthony Voto was the runner-up after recording the 10th-best mark in school history at 15.14m (49-8 ¼), followed by Almoney in third place at 14.75m (48-4 ¾). Will Mattei Jr. finished fourth at 14.01m (45-11 ¾) and Josh Meshach took fifth with a throw of 13.17m (43-2 ½).

In the pole vault, Micah Cooper finished first place after clearing the bar at 4.50m (14-9), Plumb was the runner-up with a PSAC automatic qualifying height of 4.35m (14-3 ¼) and Carney was third at 3.60m (11-9 ¾).

The Warriors recorded five of the top-8 finishers in the long jump as Anderson captured first place with a mark of 7.15m (23-5 ½). Jack Gorham was the runner-up with a leap of 6.89m (22-7 ¼) and Smith took fourth with a personal-best jump at 6.49m (21-3 ½). Rounding out the finishes for ESU was Jenkins (6.37m – 20-1- ¾) in fifth place and Sanchez in eighth (6.03m – 19-9 ½).

ESU continued their dominating run in the field events as the Warriors took four of the five top spots in the hammer throw. Almoney captured a first place finish with a personal-best and NCAA provisional mark of 56.84m (186-5), while Daryn Blackwell was the runner-up after recording a throw of 55.57m (182-3). Voto secured a fourth place with a personal-best mark of 46.16m (151-5) and Meshach was right behind in fifth at 39.76m (130-5).

In javelin, Zach Nissley recorded a first place finish with a throw of 56.41m (185-1) and Seth Leonard was the runner-up after recording a mark of 50.69m (166-3).

The Warriors earned five of the top six finishers in the discus with Cole Gorham capturing his second first place finish of the afternoon with a season-best and NCAA provisional mark of 51.53m (169-0). Blackwell took third after recording a season-best throw of 44.35m (145-6), followed by Almoney (43.56m – 142-11) in fourth, Voto (43.45m – 142-6) in fifth and Leonard (39.10m – 128-3) in sixth.

Jack Gorham was back in the sand pit for the triple jump, finishing third with a mark of 13.25m (43-5 ¾), while Bryan Rodrigues took fifth at 12.86m (42-2 ¼).

Coach Pollard Invitational (at Moravian)

With a trio of Warriors competing in the 10,000m, Boyle took first place in the event with a conference qualifying time of 32:38.42 and Camden Shaffer was the runner-up at 34:56.58.

The Warriors have an action packed week coming up as the men's squad will compete at the Penn Relays and Covert Classic (at Lehigh) from Thursday through Saturday
