Field Hockey Honored for National Championship at Madison Square Garden

EAST STROUDSBURG – Back on March 23, the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team was honored for their 2022 National Championship at center court of Madison Square Garden during halftime of the NCAA Tournament - Sweet 16 game between Kansas State and Michigan State.

On Sunday night, the Warriors were recognized by East Stroudsburg University for their numerous accomplishments throughout the 2022 season with a celebration dinner at the Innovation Center.

 

In the 2022 season, ESU also captured the third PSAC championship in school history and set the program record for wins after finishing 20-2 overall.

Additionally, the Warriors were honored with the Team GPA Award at the 2022 Division II Fall Championships Festival and received a number of academic awards from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Head coach Sandy Miller, assistant coach Katie Ord and graduate assistant Elena Andreyev were tabbed as the NFHCA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year, and five players earned First Team All-America status by the organization including Olivia Breen, Nicole Krozser, Lia Parker, Amy Supey and Jady van Gils.

ESU also received four NCAA Statistical Champion awards while junior goalkeeper Amy Supey garnered a pair of individual accolades. Supey was the statistical champion in goals against average (0.41) and save percentage (0.873) while the Warriors were for goals against average (0.41), save percentage (0.877), shutouts per game (0.68) and winning percentage (0.909).
