Three Warriors Named to CSC Academic All-District Softball Team

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University softball team continues to receive postseason honors, with Leigh Ann Jenkins, Molly Nies and Reilly Vicendese being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Jenkins was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team after posting an 11-7 record and a 3.36 ERA in 26 appearances. She has struck out 107 strikeouts in 123 innings, allowing just 59 earned runs this season. In the classroom, the recent graduate posted 3.93 GPA in Management and Leadership in Public Administration for her master's degree. During her Warrior career, Jenkins holds a career record of 31-16 and a program record six saves. The native of Folsom, Pa. ranks fifth all-time in strikeouts at ESU with 282. She has earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete acccolades and dean's list honors at ESU.

Nies, a physics major with a concentration in earth and space Science and a minor in computer science applications, holds an impressive GPA of 3.95. Along with being a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a dean's list student, Nies was selected to the All-PSAC East Second Team as an outfielder. This season, Nies has compiled 68 hits with a .360 batting average, ranking 12th in the PSAC in hits and 17th in stolen bases. Among all hitters in program history, she ranks third all-time in hits (178), fourth all-time in RBIs (84) and triples (11), along with seventh in runs (93).

Vicendese, an All-PSAC East Second Team selection at third base, has broken records for hits (73) and runs scored (54) in a season during the Warriors' impressive campaign. She leads ESU in batting average (.390, 10th in PSAC), hits (7th in PSAC), runs per game (0.95, 5th in PSAC) and has struck out just three times in 187 at bats. On the base paths, she has stolen 26 bases on 30 attempts. In the classroom, the business management major from Ellicott City, Md. holds a 3.87 GPA, earning PSAC Scholar-Athlete and dean's list honors.

ESU looks to book a trip to its first-ever NCAA Softball Championship, needing two wins in three games against Charleston. Game one of the NCAA Super Regional at Creekview Park is set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Game two will take place Friday at Noon, with the game three 'if necessary' set for 2:30 p.m.
