Schiemer, Sell earn Major Honors; Six Warriors Earn All-PSAC Nods

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Led by a pair of major award winners in Hannah Schiemer and Maggie Sell, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday that a total of six Warriors were honored on All-PSAC East teams.

Hannah Schiemer was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year, while Maggie Sell was awarded PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year. Warriors honored on the All-PSAC East First Team include Sell, Emily Mitarotonda (M) and Kiki Fitzpatrick (A). Madison Bagatta (A) and and Riley DiFiore (GK) were both selected to the All-PSAC East Second Team.

Schiemer becomes the seventh Warrior to be named PSAC East Freshman of the Year, joining her teammate Emily Mitarotonda in 2021. Offensively, the Prince Frederick, Md. native ranks third on the squad with 29 goals and fifth in points with 31. Against IUP, she posted her first four goals of her career against the Crimson Hawks. She sprinkled in four hat trick performances, including Tuesday's performance in the PSAC Quarterfinals against nationally-ranked Kutztown. After her impressive breakout performance against IUP, she scored at least one goal in 13 of the 14 games this season.

Sell continued her impressive career after earning IWLCA All-America honors in 2022 and was selected as a preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Sell becomes the just the second-ever Warrior to be named PSAC East Defender of the Year, joining former teammate turned volunteer assistant Kayeligh Pokrivka. In 18 starts, the Perkiomenville native caused an impressive 38 turnovers, while scooping 62 ground balls, tied for the team-lead which ranks 11th nationally.

Mitarotonda earns All-PSAC East First Team honors for the third consecutive season, after being named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year in 2021 and the PSAC East Athlete of the Year in 2022. The Rockaway, N.J. native became ESU's all-time goals leader as a junior, now with 209 during her storied career. This season, the midfielder has provided 72 goals, 14 assists and 86 points. Not only a threat offensively, she has provided excellent defense with 62 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. She also paces the Warriors in draw controls with 90. She has scored at least one goal in all 55 games during her career. This season she has recorded at least a hat trick in 15 contests.

Fitzpatrick was named to the All-PSAC East First team for the second consecutive season, supplying 25 goals and a team-best 31 assists for 56 assists. She posted multiple points in all but three contests, including three-plus in 12 games. The Sayville, N.Y. native recently scored her 100th career goal and is nearing the 200 career-point mark with 193 in 61 career games.

Bagatta picks up her first all-conference nod as a member of the All-PSAC East Second Team. Overall, she provided 29 goals and 15 assists for 44 points. She scooped 30 draw controls and 25 ground balls. She totaled at least three points in nine games, including a six-point performance with three goals and three assists against Bloomsburg.

DiFiore, a graduate student transfer form York, lands on the All-PSAC East Second Team after an impressive lone season in the Red and Black. The Pittsburgh native ranks third nationally in save percentage, posting more saves than goals allowed in 13 contests. A brick wall, she has posted double-digit saves in eight contests, including four-of-five games entering a potential NCAA Tournament bid.

The Warriors will find out if they have earned one of four bids to the Atlantic Region during the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Selection Show on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
