NORTHBOUROUGH, Mass. – Following another strong season, the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team was honored for its excellence in the classroom with 12 Warriors landing on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced on Wednesday.
ESU honorees include Hannah Campbell (Senior, Nursing), McKenna Conklin (Junior, Education, Health and Physical Education) Riley DiFiore (Graduate Student, Management and Leadership) Mary Fitzsimmons (junior, business management) Claire Hoffman (Junior, exercise science) Jameson Kernaghan (junior, biology), Emily Mitarotonda (Junior, Sports Management/coaching) Kendall Nester (junior, exercise science, Elaina Ohlson (senior, exercise science), Maggie Sell (senior, psychology) Kendall Sweeney (senior, political science/business analytics) and Olivia Wenrich (junior, psychology).
With the 12 Warriors student-athletes above leading the way, ESU was named one of 50 NCAA Division II teams and one of 287 schools across NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA to qualify as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, which honors teams that post a 3.2 GPA or higher for the academic year. This past semester, ESU combined for a team GPA of 3.69.
The Warriors posted the most honorees in the PSAC and tied for fourth overall with Mercy and Pace. Only Rockhurst, Rollins and Saint Leo had more honorees (13) among NCAA Division II squads.
The IWLCA honored 395 student-athletes from 58 different institutions on the 2023 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
ESU finished the 2023 season with a 14-6 overall record, advancing to its fifth consecutive NCAA DII Atlantic Region Championship game.
