Late Bloomsburg Goal Forces Draw with No. 24 ESU

Colby Raymond registered his NCAA DII leading sixth goal of the season

EAST STROUDSBURG – Holding a lead since the 33rd minute, the No. 24 East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team could not prevent a late goal from Bloomsburg, forcing a tie with the Warriors in the PSAC East opener on Wednesday evening inside Eiler-Martin Stadium.

The tie is the first non-winning result for the Warriors (3-0-1, 0-0-1 PSAC East) this season after three dominant wins to open the campaign. The Huskies (1-1-2, 0-0-1, PSAC East) pick up a tie after falling to Caldwell last week.

Notables
  • Colby Raymond registered his NCAA Division II leading sixth goal this season in just four games in the first half. Jose Rivera picked up his first assist of the season on the play. Raymond also leads ESU and the PSAC in points with 13, averaging 3.25 points per contest.
  • Sam Blumberger headed in the late goal for the Huskies - his third of the young season - off a corner kick from Stephen Hollis.
  • ESU led in shots (12-11), while Bloomsburg edged the Warriors in shots on goal (8-6). BU also led in corner kicks by a 9-2 advantage.
  • The chippy contest featured 21 total fouls and six yellow cards, with ESU being charged four, while BU picked up a pair.
  • GK Helgi Hermannsson registered seven saves in the complete 90-minute performance. Counterpart Brady Rimple made five saves in net for the Huskies.
  • Following the first slate of league games, West Chester and Millersville earned wins to start the conference slate 1-0. ESU and Bloomsburg are tied for third with the tie, while Shippensburg and Shepherd each suffered losses in their PSAC East opener. Lock Haven was on a bye on Wednesday.
