KUTZTOWN, Pa. – In a rematch of the 2023 national championship game, the No. 3 East Stroudsburg University field hockey team could not prevent a second-half comeback from No. 2 Kutztown, falling 4-3 in overtime Tuesday night at Andre Reed Stadium.
The Warriors (7-2, 0-1 PSAC) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end. The Golden Bears (7-2, 1-0 PSAC) start conference play with a win.
ESU scored three goals in the first 28 minutes, taking a 3-1 edge at halftime after Kutztown scored the opening goal on a penalty stroke. The Golden Bears cut the deficit to one in the third quarter and tied the game with less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Kutztown's Erin Gonzalez registered the game-winning goal in the 64th minute to lift the Golden Bears to a victory in the conference opener.

- The Warriors took the lead in the 20th minute, with Moline scoring an van Gils' second assist.
- Viruet extended ESU's lead to 3-1 just over two minutes before the end of the first half on a penalty corner.
- Kutztown added goals in the 41st and 58th minutes to force overtime. Gonzalez scored in the fourth minute of the extra period to complete the comeback.
