Taylor Haan Records 2,000th Assist as ESU Defeats Millersville in Four Sets

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team (17-7, 7-5) won a tight match over Millersville (14-14, 6-6) in four sets (25-11, 20-25, 25-22, 28-26) on Saturday in Koehler Fieldhouse.

Notables:
  • Taylor Haan recorded 46 assists over four sets, with her 28th assist marking her 2,000th career assist. She becomes the seventh Warrior to reach the milestone. Haan also had seven digs.
  • Kelly Crities had a standout performance with 19 digs and 13 kills.
  • Allison Birtcil led the team in kills, finishing with 18 on a 37.8% hitting percentage.
  • Anna Coulter wasn't far behind, adding 15 kills and hitting 29.0%.
  • Leonor Chambel tied for the game high in digs with 21. Makaela McComas contributed 10 digs of her own.
 
How It Happened

S1 (25-11): ESU set a solid foundation early, going up 6-1. The Warriors later went on a 7-1 run to increase their lead to 10, and they went on to win the set by 14 points.
S2 (20-25): Both teams traded points, with the score tied at 11. At that point, Millersville went on an 8-3 run to build a five-point lead, which they held to win the set.
S3 (25-22): In a similar situation, tied at 11, ESU went on a 7-2 run to take an 18-13 lead. Millersville fought back to tie the set at 22, but the Warriors scored the next three points to win the set.
S4 (28-26): The fourth set was another tightly contested battle, with the score locked at 17-17. Millersville went on a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead, needing just two points to win. The Warriors, however, did not waver, going on an 11-3 run to take the set and the match.

Up Next
ESU will travel to Bloomsburg on Nov. 15 to extend their winning streak. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
