Emily Chmiel Scores 1000th Career Point at Gannon

ERIE, Pa.Emily Chmiel (Pictured Above) reached 1,000 points in her collegiate career as the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team fell, 60-47, to PSAC West opponent and last year's Elite Eight finalist, No.4 Gannon, Saturday afternoon. This was the second straight game against a nationally ranked opponent in the top ten for ESU.
The Warriors kept pace with the Golden Knights in three of the four quarters, but Gannon's big third quarter put them on top, outscoring ESU, 21-11.

Notables:
Chmiel recorded her third double-double of the season in the first four games. She tied for the game high with 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Izzy Vogel and Lacie Kringe both scored nine points. Vogel added three steals, tying the game high, and also had three rebounds. Kringe contributed three rebounds, two assists, and made both of her free throws.
Despite shooting a higher percentage from the floor and making more free throws, the Warriors fell to the Golden Knights' 11 three-pointers and 14 steals.
ESU dominated in the paint, outscoring Gannon, 34-18, while grabbing 15 more rebounds.

How it Happened:
Late in the first quarter, Gannon built an eight-point lead with 1:14 to go. The Warriors went on a 7-0 run thanks to a pair of layups by Vogel and free throws by both Vogel and Chmiel to make it a one-point game. In the second, ESU took its second lead of the game off another Vogel layup. After a bucket by Chmiel, the Golden Knights went on an 8-0 run to retake the lead at 24-19. With 1:36 to go, Chmiel scored her 1,000th point off an assist from Vogel, and the score was tied at 24 at halftime. Midway through the third, Gannon went on a 10-3 run to take a 45-35 lead into the fourth quarter. To start the final quarter, Gannon went on a 10-0 run to make it a 20-point game and eventually won by 13.
