EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team found its rhythm from beyond the arc, beating Lincoln 74-62 in Koehler Fieldhouse Tuesday night.
After trailing by 11 in the second half, the Warriors shot 11-for-16 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from three in the third quarter, which propelled their comeback.
Notables:
- Lacie Kringe (Pictured Above) scored a career-high 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the floor, including three made threes, and also tallied six assists.
- Emily Chmiel once again delivered a stellar 20-point double-double performance, recording 28 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 68.8 percent from the field. This marks her fourth double-double in five games this season and her third 20-point double-double of the year.
- Jessica Polin contributed four assists, three rebounds, two steals, and nine points—all from three-pointers—in the Warriors' huge third-quarter rally.
- Chmiel and Kringe's combined 53 points is the most by an ESU duo since Niki Cox and Katie Wear combined for 58 points against Georgian Court during the 2002-03 season.
How it Happened:
The first quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with three lead changes in the final minute, and the Lions holding a one-point lead at the end of the period. Lincoln carried that momentum into the second quarter, going on an 11-2 run to take a 24-14 lead and eventually heading into halftime up 30-22. Kringe made the first of four Warriors threes to open the second half, signaling what was to come.
Down by nine with 6:10 left in the third, Polin nailed two threes on consecutive possessions to make it a two-possession game. After a Chmiel layup and a Kringe steal and basket, the Warriors trailed by two under a minute to go. Kringe and Polin then traded threes, giving ESU its first lead since the first quarter.
The Warriors continued their surge in the fourth, outscoring Lincoln 24-15 to win 74-62.
