EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team will tip off the 2024-25 season today on the road in the Millersville Conference Challenge, hosted by Millersville. They face Virginia Union at 4 p.m. and Point Park tomorrow at 1 p.m.
 
In 2023-24, the Warriors went 10-18 overall and 8-14 in PSAC play. They made it to the PSAC Tournament for the second consecutive year.
 
Who's Back:
ESU will have 11 returners, including leaders in several major statistical categories. Senior 
Emily Chmiel (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) led the Warriors in points (9.3 ppg), rebounds (6.8 rpg), and blocks (1.1 bpg). Senior 
Izzy Vogel (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was second in points (8.5 ppg), rebounds (5.0 rpg), blocks (0.6 bpg), and third in steals (1.4 spg). Senior 
Corrin Gill (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) led in assists (3.4 apg) and steals (1.5 spg).
 
ESU will bring back numerous upperclassmen, including seniors 
Katie Geisler (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz Central), 
Jessica Polin (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin), and 
Cassidy Saylor (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic). Juniors 
Adrine Demirciyan (Greenport, N.Y./Greenport), 
Lily Sugra (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor), and 
Caitlin Marten (Lynbrook, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) return for their third season.
 
Sophomores 
Lacie Kringe (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) and 
Kaitlyn McGeary (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) round out the returners for the Warriors.
 
Newcomers:
ESU added a talented class of freshmen: 
Brie Droege (Columbia, Pa./Columbia), a three-time Lancaster Lebanon League MVP; 
Brooke Droege (Columbia, Pa./Columbia), who was LLL co-MVP; 
Lillie Pon (Taylor, Pa./Riverside), a two-time team MVP; and 
Madi Siggins (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), who was named Parkland Female Athlete of the Year due to her performances in basketball and volleyball.
 
Coach Flooks:
She enters her first season with the Warriors after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart University. During her tenure, SHU won two Northeastern Conference championships, the 2024 NEC regular-season title, made two NCAA Tournaments, and won its first NCAA Tournament game in program history in 2023.
 
PSAC East Preseason Poll:
ESU was picked to finish fifth, which is where they were picked last year.
 
A Look Ahead:
The Warriors will return home to Koehler Fieldhouse on Nov. 20 to face Jefferson at 7 p.m. Their first PSAC game will be at Gannon on Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., with their first home PSAC game set for Dec. 6 against Edinboro at 3 p.m.
