Women’s Basketball Defeated by #19 Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team fell to #19 Lock Haven, 74-46, in a PSAC East game on Wednesday night inside Thomas Fieldhouse.

The Warriors dropped to 7-15 on the season and 5-12 in the PSAC while the PSAC East leading Bald Eagles improved to 21-2 overall and 16-1 in the conference.

Notables
  • Junior Cassidy Saylor scored a team and season-high 18 points, shooting 7-for-8 from the field and 4-for-4 at the line to go with four rebounds and one block in 29 minutes off the bench
  • In 28 minutes off the bench, freshman Lacie Kringe added a career-high seven points, three steals, one assist and one rebound
  • Making her third start of the season, senior Gwenn Sabato tallied five points and one steal
  • Junior Izzy Vogel (five rebounds, one assist, one steal), senior Carley Adams and senior Leah Pishock (three rebounds, two steals) each registered four points
  • Lock Haven's Rhlyn Rouse poured in game-high 22 points as well as seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Ten additional Bald Eagles scored including Jenadia Jordan (five rebounds, two steals, one block) with nine points and Alana Robinson (five rebounds, five assists, three steals, two blocks) with eight points.
  • The Warriors shot 34.0 percent (18-of-53) overall, 1-for-11 (9.1%) beyond the arc and 90.0 percent (9-of-10) at the free throw line. The Bald Eagles finished 29-for-63 (46.0%) from the field, 4-for-16 (25.0%) from three-point range and 12-for-14 at the charity stripe.
  • Lock Haven defeated ESU in the third straight meeting and completed the season sweep for the first time since the 2018-19 season. The Warriors still maintain the advantage in the all-time series, 42-25.
How It Happened
  • Lock Haven scored the games' first four points and extended the lead to 7-2 until Sabato knocked down a three pointer to pull the Warriors within two. However, over the final 4:48 of the first quarter the Bald Eagles outscored ESU 12-6 to push the advantage back to 19-11.
     
  • It was all Lock Haven to start the second quarter as the Bald Eagles opened on an 11-2 spurt through the first five minutes which extended the lead to 30-13. Following the media timeout, Lock Haven scored 11 of the final 13 points of the half to take a 39-15 edge at the break.
     
  • In the third quarter, the Warriors scored 12 points on 5-for-11 (45.5%) shooting but Lock Haven poured in 18 points to stretch their lead to 57-27.
     
  • ESU outscored Lock Haven by two points (19-17) in the fourth quarter to make the final score 74-46 in favor of the Bald Eagles.

ESU is back on the road Saturday as the Warriors travel to Heiges Field House looking to complete the season-sweep of Shippensburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
