STAUNTON, VA. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team dropped a close, 5-4, decision at Mary Baldwin on Sunday morning.
The Warriors, who won three singles bouts and a doubles match, fell to 0-3 while the Fighting Squirrels improved to 1-4.
Graduate students Sherin Paul and Alessia Bianchini earned their first doubles win of the season with an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 over Mary Baldwin's Gretchen Lutz and Kelsey Bantel.
Bianchini returned to defeat the Fighting Squirrels' Virani Bhagat (7-6) at the No. 2 singles while freshman Carley Furlow and sophomore Jazmine Parker earned victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. It marked the first collegiate wins for Bianchini, Furlow and Parker in singles.
