EAST STROUDSBURG – In the first NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings of the season, the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team was listed in the initial rankings in alphabetical order, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. Additionally, the Warriors are ranked No. 11 in the ILWomen/IWLCA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the USA Lacrosse Top-20.
The Warriors (9-4, 5-3 PSAC East) enter Wednesday's matchup with No. 2 West Chester in third place in the PSAC East, clinging to a two-game lead over Bloomsburg for the final spot in the PSAC Tournament.
Among 108 NCAA Division II programs, the Warriors lead the nation in save percentage (.585) and rank third in ground balls per game (24.15). Additionally, ESU ranks 18th in scoring defense, allowing just 9.0 goals per contest.
Emily Mitarotonda continues to be a top offensive and defensive weapon in the PSAC and the nation, leading all NCAA Division II players in free-position goals per game while ranking third in both goals and points per game. She averages 2.85 caused turnovers per game, which ranks sixth in the nation and also leads the PSAC.
Junior goalkeeper
Abby Simonetti continues to lead the nation in saves percentage (.605) as one of the top goalkeepers in the country. She ranks 16th in saves per game and 13th in goals-against average.
After facing the Golden Rams on Wednesday, the Warriors play their final regular season road game on Saturday against Shippensburg.
