5/3/2026 8:30:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The ESU women's lacrosse team is heading to its ninth NCAA Tournament in program history, earning the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region.

ESU is second in the region behind the PSAC Champions Slippery Rock. West Chester rounds out the top half of the region, as Kutztown, Wingate, and Frostburg State make up the bottom half of the qualifying teams.

The Warriors finished the regular season with an undefeated 17-0 record to be PSAC East champions before falling in the conference semifinals to No. 15 Kutztown. ESU has climbed the national rankings all season long, opening the preseason at No. 14 and getting up to No. 4. ESU went 7-1 against ranked opponents, defeating No. 11 West Chester Kutztown twice, and No. 14 Adelphi, No. 17 Seton Hill, and No. 23 Bentley once each.

ESU is looking for its first NCAA Championship, winning the Atlantic region four previous times in 2024, 2022, 2021, and 2018. The Warriors finished 2022 as the national runners-up. With a 13-8 record all-time in the NCAA Tournament, ESU has the best record of a team still looking for its first national championship.

East Stroudsburg will host the first round game between West Chester and Frostburg State at 2 p.m. on May 7, then play the winner at noon on Saturday, May 9, at Whitenight Field
