LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After falling 3-1 in game one, freshman pitcher
Sarah Davenport tossed a two-hit shutout in game two, as the East Stroudsburg University softball team split with Lock Haven with a 3-0 win in game two on Sunday afternoon at Lawrence Field.
The Warriors complete the regular season with a 41-13, 23-9 PSAC East record, while the Bald Eagles close 2024 with a 14-18, 18-26 PSAC East mark.
ESU clinched the PSAC East Regular Season Championship against Bloomsburg on Friday and will be the top seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament at Quakertown's Veterans Park. The Warriors will play the winner of PSAC West fourth-seed Slippery Rock and PSAC East fifth-seed Bloomsburg on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
Pitching Notables
- Davenport's (W, 22-5) game two no-hitter featured 13 strikeouts without issuing a walk. She did not allow an extra-base hit, conceding just a single in the 2nd and 7th innings. She lowered her ERA to 1.00 and WHIP to .82, holding a 22-5 record in 35 appearances. After becoming ESU's single-season strikeout record earlier this season with her 187th strikeout, the Hillsborough, N.J. native is approaching 300 strikeouts, now with 174 on the season. She has held foes to a .179 batting average.
- Paige Zigmund (L, 18-7) allowed just five hits in the complete-game performance, allowing three runs and three walks, while striking out eight batters. The former Lock Haven transfer allowed just one extra-base hit.

How It Happened – Game 1
- The Warriors started game one strong. After a leadoff single by Lipkins and a double by Vicendese, a foul-out allowed Lipkins to score from first.
- That was the only tally ESU could muster in the first contest. The Warriors left a combined six batters on base, notching at least one hit in all but the fourth inning.
- LHU evened the score in the bottom of the 3rd. After a leadoff single, stolen base and groundout that allowed Delaney Good to reach third base, an RBI foul out by Brodzinga knotted the score at 1-1.
- The Bald Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the 5th. A single, followed by an RBI double by Good pushed the Bald Eagles to a 2-1 advantage. LHU wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single by Brodzinga with two outs.
How It Happened – Game 2
- With Davenport's masterful performance, ESU scored all three runs of the second game in the bottom of the third. The Warriors smacked five hits in the game. After singles from Smallwood, Shaw-Tait, Kate Donaghue smacked a pinch-hit RBI single to lift the Warriors to a lead. Lipkins and Vicendese each followed with clutch two-out RBI singles, as the Warriors exited the top of the 5th with a 3-0 edge.
- Davenport cruised, retiring 17 of the final 18 batters she faced, allowing a single with two outs in the bottom of the 7th. She forced a ground out for the third and final out in her 22nd victory.
