EMPORIA, KS. – East Stroudsburg University thrower Cole Gorham concluded a spectacular junior campaign on Friday as he earned All-America First Team honors with an eighth place finish in the discus at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Emporia State (Kansas) University.
Gorham slotted in ninth place at the completion of the prelims (the Top 9 throwers advanced to finals), before unleashing a throw of 53.04m (174-0) on his fourth attempt to move up one spot and claim All-America recognition.
The Kingston, Pa. native becomes the 21st two-time All-American in program history as Gorham earned All-America Second Team honors at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships following a 10th place finish in the shot put.
Gorham was the first Warrior thrower in program history to qualify for the championships in the discus as he broke the all-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record back on April 19 at ESU's All-American Meet with a milestone mark of 57.55m (188-9).
A two-time PSAC Field Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season, Gorham captured only the second PSAC discus title in program history at the outdoor championships on May 4 and became the first ESU thrower to do so in 27 years as Russ McGeehan took first place back in 1997.
