CLEVELAND – 164 East Stroudsburg University student-athletes were honored with the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award for their academic performances during the 2023-24 academic year, the organization announced on Tuesday.
For the second straight year, there were more than 19,000 student-athletes recognized (19,774) from 192 institutions for the 2023-24 Academic Achievement Awards. This year's total is the highest in the program's history.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tallied 1,919 student-athletes who earned D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards. Only four other Division II conferences had above 1,000 student-athletes recognized: the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (1,318), the Pacific West Conference (1,124), the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (1,075), and Conference Carolinas (1,070).
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.
Also, the student-athlete must:
- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
