EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team opened its home slate in style, sweeping Holy Family (25-19, 25-11, 25-13) to kick off the ESU Tri-Match on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Warriors (7-2) registered their fifth consecutive win, while the Tigers fell to 2-7 after losses to ESU and Saint Anselm on Friday.
Notables:
- Anna Coulter connected on nine kills on just 14 attempts (.571) while posting seven total blocks and two digs.
- Allison Birtcil (seven kills, nine digs) and Hanna Garrison (six kills, eight digs) combined for 13 kills, with both hitting above a .300 clip. The duo added a combined 17 digs, coming close to double-doubles.
- Taylor Haan contributed 28 assists and three total blocks.
- Defensively, Leonor Chambel recorded 11 digs and six aces.

Set 1 (25-19): ESU jumped out to a 6-1 lead and extended the margin to 12-7. The Warriors broke the set open with a 5-0 run, taking a 17-7 lead. Holy Family narrowed the gap to 20-15, but ESU closed strong to take the set, 25-19.

Set 2 (25-11): The Warriors built a 10-3 lead early in the second set, which grew to 16-7. After an ESU service error, the Warriors responded with six straight points to take a 22-8 lead. The teams traded the final six points, with ESU winning the set 25-11 to take a 2-0 lead.

Set 3 (25-13): Holy Family had a strong start in the third set, leading 6-4 early. ESU responded with seven straight points and went on a 15-5 run to take a 19-11 lead. Holding a 19-13 advantage, the Warriors earned the final six points to secure the sweep with a 25-13 victory.
Up Next: ESU hosts three matches on Saturday. The Warriors face Saint Anselm at noon and Jefferson at 5 p.m. Saint Anselm and Jefferson will play a neutral-site match at 2:30 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
