No. 3 Warriors Blank New Haven For Sixth Consecutive Win

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – After holding New Haven without a shot during the entirety the 60-minute contest, the No. 3 East Stroudsburg University field hockey team scored five second half goals to down the Chargers, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Della-Camera Stadium.

The Warriors (7-1) earn their sixth consecutive victory, while the Chargers fall to 3-4 on the season.

Notables

  • Minke Klijn and Jessica Seidel paced the Warrior offense, each scoring a pair of goals. Klijn is now tied for the team lead with Allyson Forman and Jady van Gils with seven goals.  Forman also registered her seventh goal of the season in the contest.
  • Maddie Moline, van Gils and Kerry Kaufman distributed assists.
  • Jet Vermeulen, Sydney Pope and Saar van Berckel combined for the clean sheet, without needing to make a save. UNH's Rae Kline made nine saves while allowing three goals over the first three quarters. Cara Lambert conceded two goals and tallied three saves in the fourth quarter.
  • The Warriors held significant advantages in shots (30-0), shots on goal (18-0) and penalty corners (13-0).

How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first half, Moline sent a pass to the middle of the arc to find Klijn, lifting ESU to a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute.
  • Just over two minutes later, Seidel connected on her first goal of the day, taking a pass from van Gils to lift the Warriors to a 2-0 lead.
  • In the fourth frame, Forman posted ESU's first goal just 20 seconds into the quarter. She deposited the goal after a scramble in front of the goal.
  • Kaufman setup Klijn with a pass to the far side of the cage in the 48th minute for her seventh goal of the season.
  • Seidel wrapped up the scoring, getting her stick on the ball in a scramble in front of the net in the 55th minute.
