Chmiel Captures Fourth PSAC East Athlete of the Week Award of the Season

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced Tuesday afternoon that senior Emily Chmiel has been named PSAC East Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season. In two games, Chmiel averaged 31.1 points, 15 rebounds, one steal, and one block, while shooting 56% from the floor. She has earned the award each month this season.
 
Currently, Chmiel is tied for the NCAA Division II lead in double-doubles with nine, ranks third in points per game with 23.7, and is tied for 10th in rebounds per game with 11.
 
Since 2002-03, Chmiel is tied for second in program history in double-doubles and has the third most in a season.
 
In her first game, Chmiel finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, one block, and 50% shooting in a close game against Mercy on Thursday.
 
Her best game was last night in a win over Shepherd, where Chmiel scored 33 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and recorded a block on 63.1% shooting from the floor. That was her second consecutive game with 30-plus points and 14-plus rebounds, and her third this season.
 
ESU's next game will be played in Koehler Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m. as the Warriors host the Golden Rams of West Chester tomorrow. On Saturday, they will travel to Lock Haven to take on the Bald Eagles, who are currently No. 2 in the PSAC East.
