EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Despite an early goal within the first two minutes, the East Stroudsburg women's soccer team fell 2-1 at home to Millersville Saturday afternoon, after a dominant second half from the Marauders.
The Warriors fell to 5-5-3 overall and 3-5-3 in the conference, while the Marauders improved to 5-5-3 overall and 4-4-3 in the conference.
Notables
In the first half, ESU posted seven shots on goal and were limited to just one shot in the second half. The Marauders managed six shots in the first half and controlled the second half by posting 11 shots, for a total of 10 on target.
Warrior goalkeeper Emmilia Clarkson made eight saves, her third highest save count this season. Sydnie Wright scored her first goal while Jade Wiley recorded her first assist of the season.
How it happened
Wright put the Warriors on the board first at the 1:14 minute mark and was assisted by Wiley. With 22:33 remaining in the first half, Clarkson made a diving save to keep the score at 1-0. Clarkson made another two crucial saves around the 61-minute mark.
The Marauders tied the game at 65:01 with a goal from Lia Francis. Millersville scored the game-winning goal at 85:30 by Livia Messenger, assisted by Aubrey Strohecker.
