Five Warriors Find the Net in 8-0 Triumph over Pace

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University field hockey team secured an 8-0 victory over Pace in their non-conference matchup on Wednesday, October 9, 2025, at Whitenight Field. The Warriors successfully earned the shutout, improving their season record to 10-2. ESU controlled the flow of the game, holding advantages in every statistical category against Pace.
 
The Warriors registered 25 total shots, with 15 shots placed on goal. Pace was limited to just three total shots, with only one shot on goal. ESU also heavily pressured the Pace defense in the penalty corner battle, earning 14 corners compared to Pace's four. Pace goalkeeper Morgan Strecker collected seven saves during the effort.
 
Notables
Five different Warriors scored in the contest, achieving eight total goals.

Rylie McGrath (two goals, one assist), Minke Klijn (two goals), and Bella Viruet (two goals) led the scoring efforts, each securing a brace.

Alex Eagles contributed significantly to the offense, recording two assists.

Lisa Pasman finished the afternoon with a goal and an assist (two points).

Elaiana Rivera-Lagalla scored one goal.

Emma Friend added an assist

In goal, Sydney Pope and Jet Vermeulen combined for the shutout. Pope played the first 30:00 minutes and Vermeulen played the second 30:00 minutes, recording one save.
 
How it Happened
The Warriors established control immediately in the opening quarter, firing off nine shots. ESU broke the deadlock early when Klijn scored the first goal just 3:44 into the game, assisted by Eagles. Later in the period, Pasman scored at the 10:07 mark, assisted by McGrath, pushing the lead to 2-0 before the second quarter.

The offensive pressure continued into the second quarter, where ESU added two more goals. Klijn scored her second goal of the contest at 20:23, assisted by Friend, bringing the score to 3-0. McGrath then followed suit with an unassisted score at 25:39, sending the teams into halftime with ESU leading 4-0.

ESU added a single goal in the third period. After a penalty corner at 44:21, Viruet found the back of the cage at 44:27, assisted by Eagles.

The scoring concluded in the final frame with the Warriors tacking on three goals. Rivera-Lagalla scored unassisted at 47:22. Just two minutes later, Viruet netted her second goal of the afternoon at 49:29. The final goal came at 52:51 when McGrath scored her second of the day, assisted by  Pasman, finalizing the 8-0 victory.
