ALBION, Mich. — The ESU women's wrestling team dominated at the Albion Open, finishing with the most points overall and winning six weight-class brackets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Olivia Klein went 3-0 in a six-wrestler bracket in the 103-pound weight class, coming out on top with a pin against Leona Keuvelaar from Grand Valley State in her final match.
- Teegan Sibble made easy work of her opponents through four matches, advancing to the finals in the 110-pound weight class with two wins by fall and a technical fall win. She won the bracket by defeating Albion's Gabriella Motz by technical fall.
- Yianna Foufas only needed three wins to finish the tournament as the 117-pound champion, and did so with a two technical falls and a fall.
- Gianna Amendola was unstoppable in the four matches leading up to the final round in the 131-pound bracket, pinning all four of her opponents. She won by technical fall against Kendya Pierre-Louis for the title.
- Ragan Retell went 4-0 in the 138-pound weight class bracket to end as the champion, winning all four of her matches in under two minutes by technical fall.
- Selina Moore won four matches to win the 145-pound bracket, with one by technical fall, and the other three by fall. In her wins by fall, she secured a pin in 26 seconds or less.
- The Warriors also competed in the 235-pound exhibition bracket, as Patricia Deslandes won four matches to come away as the champion. Deslandes picked up four straight wins via fall to go undefeated on the day.
