EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's basketball team took care of business against Georgian Court at home, defeating the Lions, 106-84.
NOTABLES
- Kevin Coleman had his best game as a Warrior yet, scoring a game high 19 points on 75.0% shooting from the field and grabbing eight rebounds. The starting forward played 21 minutes, while also recording two steals and two blocks on the defensive end.
- The freshman duo of Adrian Brito and Keni Williams was a one-two scoring punch for ESU, both reaching double figures. Brito shot 6-7 from the field for 16 points with six rebounds and assists each, and Williams contributed with 13 points and six assists.
- ESU had five players reach double-digit scoring, as Jalen Pichardo and Terrell Pitts each had 10 points. Across the rest of the box score, the two totaled nine rebounds and shot 75.0% from three-point range.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coleman and Pichardo got the scoring started for the Warriors, getting ESU out in front in the opening minutes. Coleman scored the first points off an assist from Christian Pierre-Louis, who made his first start of the season, and went back to work in the post again for another layup and four quick points. Coleman had possession in the paint again, kicking it out this time to an open Pichardo for a three. The next trip down the floor, Pichardo cleaned up the offensive glass and converted a layup to put ESU ahead 9-2.
- The lead consistently stayed above 10 points after the midway point of the first half. The combo of Williams and Brito connected for three straight baskets for ESU before Williams hit an open Ethan Millirons on an inbounds pass for another three-pointer to go up 32-16 with 8:24 left in the half.
- ESU extended its lead by six in the final two minutes, as Coleman scored six of ESU's last seven points going into half to lead 55-35.
- The Warriors carried on with how they played in the first consistently throughout the second half, keeping their lead above 20 points for all but 2:36 of the final 20 minutes.
GAME NOTES
- The Warriors forced 23 turnovers and only committed 15, largely caused by the full-court press. ESU forced numerous five-second violations as well as errant passes as Georgian Court tried to advance the ball.
- ESU is 3-0 all-time versus the Lions, having won by at least 22 points in each meeting.
