How It Happened
ESU opened with the advantage, taking a 9-4 lead early, but the Rams responded and took an 18-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, it looked as if the Rams' momentum would put them up at the half. With the Warriors trailing by five with 1:33 remaining,
Brooke Droege and
Jessica Polin made two quick baskets to bring the deficit to one. Then, after a Polin steal with under a minute to go, Droege hit a last-second shot to give ESU the lead.
The third quarter was a turning point as the Warriors scored 14 points and limited the Rams to just four, increasing ESU's lead to 11 points.
In the final quarter, ESU stood tall as Shepherd was never able to cut the deficit to fewer than two possessions, and the Warriors won, 58-47.
Up Next
The Warriors will return to Koehler Fieldhouse to host Millersville on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. in what should be an exciting rematch. ESU had the upper hand last time out, as it defeated the Marauders, 69-62.
