EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team took care of business on the road, defeating Moravian 5-2 for their first win of the spring season.
The Warriors improve to 4-2 before heading down to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the PTR Spring Tennis Festival. On the other hand, Moravian suffered its first loss of the season, falling to the Warriors and moving to 4-1.
How It Happened – Doubles
In No. 1 doubles, Louise Boyer-Vidal and Marketa Beladova defeated Izzy Szmodis and Leah Zolotareva 6-3.
In No. 2 doubles, the Warriors' Ariel Kelsick and Leah Stefanovic prevailed over Ali Willis and Nicole Kaloring 6-1.
In No. 3 doubles, Gianina Speranza and Claudia Ermina fell to Sydney Shifman and Jenna Gower 6-2.
How It Happened – Singles
Recent transfer Marketa Beladova defeated Leah Zolotareva 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles spot.
In the No. 2 match, Paris native Louise Boyer-Vidal lost to Izzy Szmodis after splitting the first two sets 6-4, (5) 6-7, and falling in the super tiebreak 7-10.
Warrior Ariel Kelsick won the first set 6-1, fell 3-6 in the second, but bounced back to win the super tiebreak 11-9 in No. 3 singles.
Lea Stefanovic made a strong return from injury with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory in her Warrior debut in No. 4 singles.
In No. 5 singles, Moravian's Ali Willis defeated Bega Gotor 6-2, 6-3.
Lastly, Maya Jackson sealed the victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Jenna Gower in No. 6 singles.
