WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team put up a valiant effort but fell to West Chester, 64-62, in a hard-fought Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Hollinger Field House.
The Warriors (11-13, 8-10), despite the loss, clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament. The Golden Rams (13-12, 10-8) tied for the No. 3 spot in the PSAC East with the win.
Notables
Brie Droege had arguably her best offensive game of her young career, posting 28 points, six rebounds, three assists, and shooting 11 of 12 from the free-throw line.
Emily Chmiel posted her 20th double-double of the season, scoring 14 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and adding four steals and five blocks. Chmiel is now 41 points away from breaking the single-season record with three regular-season games remaining in what has been a spectacular season for her.
Jessica Polin finished with nine points, knocking down two 3-pointers and grabbing two steals.
Game Summary
East Stroudsburg trailed 21-12 after the first quarter but responded with a 20-point second quarter to tie the game just before halftime.
The Warriors grabbed the lead in the third quarter, going up by as many as nine points, but the Golden Rams rallied in the final minutes to go up by two.
Tied at 62 with 0.3 seconds left, West Chester drew a foul, leading to the game-winning free throws.
