Warriors Sweep Rams to Move to 11-3

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team completed its second home sweep of the season, against Jefferson on Wednesday afternoon, winning 8-0 and 6-2 at Creekview Park, headlined by Sarah Davenport's five inning perfect game which is the first perfect game for the Warriors since Morgan Chapman and Katie Zaun tossed a combined perfect game against Saint Thomas Aquinas in 2022.
 
The No. 15 Warriors (11-3) dominated the Rams (0-2) in Game 1, which lasted only five innings.
 
Pitching Notables
Sarah Davenport improved to 8-0, after pitching a five inning perfect game in Game 1, striking out 11.
 
Faith Troyer improved to 2-1, throwing six innings and allowing just one hit in Game 2. Abbie Landrum closed out the game in the final inning with two strikeouts.
 
Batting Notables
Delaney Ridgell led the Warriors at the plate, finishing with five hits, three runs and two RBIs.
 
Abigail Weirich and Tatum Kressley each added three runs to ESU's total on the day. Weirich also drove in three runs.
 
Game 1 Recap
Davenport dominated in the circle, tossing a perfect game to keep the Rams out of scoring position.
 
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the second inning after Ridgell, Katie Master and Kylie Ingram all scored.
 
ESU never looked back, sealing the win in the fifth inning by adding four runs to enforce the run rule.
 
Game 2 Recap
Troyer allowed just one hit in Game 2, helping the Warriors complete the sweep with a 6-2 victory.
 
By the end of the third, ESU led 5-0, but Jefferson fought back with two runs in the sixth.
 
Landrum entered in the seventh and recorded two strikeouts to secure the win.

The No. 15 Warriors continue their home stand with a doubleheader against No. 6 Wilmington on March 10.
