ESU Softball Improves Winning Streak to Six

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team swept Pace on Saturday at Creekview Park, extending its winning streak to six games.
 
The Warriors (13-3) continued their strong play, earning their third consecutive doubleheader sweep. The Setters (4-2) suffered their first losses of the season after opening with four straight wins.
 
Pitching Notables
Sarah Davenport (9-0) remained dominant, allowing just one run and striking out 10 over seven innings. Davenport now sits at 414 career strikeouts which is third best in program history, only behind Crissy Wontroba (429) and Monica Sobolesky (435).

Faith Troyer (3-1) pitched four innings, striking out six, before handing the ball to Abbie Landrum, who tossed three shutout innings with three strikeouts.
 
Hitting Notables
Tatum Kresley went 5-for-8 on the day, scoring three times and stealing a base in Game 1.

Abigail Weirich recorded three hits, two RBIs, four runs scored, and five stolen bases.

Delaney Ridgell drove in four runs on three hits and scored once.

Kinsley Proepper reached base five times with three hits, including a home run, and two walks. She also had an RBI in each game and scored twice.

Katie Master had two hits and launched a three-run home run.
 
Game 1
Ridgell got the Warriors rolling with a two-run single in the first inning and added an RBI single in the third. Pace got on the board in the fourth, but ESU responded in the fifth as Master crushed a three-run homer, followed immediately by a solo shot from Proepper. Kresley later scored on a Tulana Mingin RBI single in the sixth, sealing an 8-1 win.
 
Game 2
Pace struck first with a leadoff home run in the third and added a run on an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. The Warriors' bats, quiet through three innings, erupted in the fourth, scoring six runs on six hits. Weirich capped off the rally with a two-run single, bringing home Georgia Tym and Kresley, as the Warriors would win 6-2.

ESU hosts No. 11 Wilmington for a highly anticipated doubleheader on March 10 at Creekview Park, with games scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
