No. 14 Warriors Split Doubleheader vs No. 11 Wilmington (Del.)

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team split its doubleheader against No. 11 Wilmington (Del.) on Monday.

The Warriors (14-4) shut out the Wildcats (7-11) in Game 1, but Wilmington (Del.)'s bats came alive in Game 2 to earn the split.
 
Pitching Notables
Sarah Davenport (10-0) was dominant in seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out 12 to pick up the win over the nationally ranked opponent.

Davenport now has 104 strikeouts this season and 426 in her career, closing in on the school record of 435.
 
Hitting Notables
Abigail Weirich had two hits and drove in a run in both games and stole a base.

Tatum Kresley and Delany Ridgell each recorded two hits and an RBI. Kresley also stole a base.
 
Game 1
Taylor Lipkins sparked the offense with a leadoff triple and was driven in by Kresley to give ESU an early 1-0 lead.

With two outs, Ridgell delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0 after the first inning. Weirich later added an RBI single, but the Warriors didn't need much offense as Davenport's one-hit gem secured the 3-0 victory.
 
Game 2
After being shut out in the opener, Wilmington (Del.)  responded with a five-run second inning, scoring twice on a single before adding three more on a home run.

The Wildcats tacked on another run in the sixth with an RBI single, securing a 7-1 win. ESU's lone run came off Weirich's bat.
 
Up next
The Warriors host Dominican for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 12, with games scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
