Davenport's Second Perfect Game Helps Warriors to Midweek Sweep

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Highlighted by Sarah Davenport's second perfect game of the season, the East Stroudsburg University softball team completed a shutout sweep of Dominican, winning 6-0 and 13-0.

The Warriors (16-4) continue their strong play as they enter PSAC East action next week, while the Chargers (3-9) struggled, managing just two baserunners over both games.

Pitching notables
Sarah Davenport tossed her second perfect game of the season, striking out 15 batters over seven innings.

Last month, she threw a five-inning perfect game against Jefferson. Davenport also broke the program's career strikeout record, now sitting at 441.

Meadow Lake (1-1) impressed in Game 2, pitching a complete-game shutout with six strikeouts while allowing just two baserunners over five innings.

Batting notables
Taylor Lipkins and Delaney Ridgell each drove in three runs while reaching base three times.

Ridgell stole a base, had two hits, including a home run and a walk, while Lipkins finished with three hits and stole two bases.

Tatum Kresley collected three hits, drove in two runs, and stole a base.

Abigail Weirich recorded two hits and two RBIs.

A total of 15 Warriors reached base via hit or walk, and 11 recorded at least one RBI.

Game 1
Dominican's pitching kept the game scoreless into the fifth inning, but the Warriors broke through with a two-out rally.

A Lace Tangianau double sparked the offense, leading to six consecutive ESU hits, including a Lipkins triple, a Tulana Mingin double, and a Katie Master double. The Warriors' six runs in the inning were driven in by six different players.

Davenport continued to dominate, retiring every batter she faced to complete the perfect game.

Game 2
Unlike the opener, ESU struck early, putting up six runs in the first inning. In the second, Ridgell's two-run home run extended the lead to 8-0, allowing more Warriors to see action.

The offense continued in the third, with Vanessa Morales driving in Georgia Tym on a double before Kaitlynn Colangelo launched a two-run homer to push the lead to 11-0. Maddin Grow added an RBI single in the inning. Colangelo capped the scoring in the fourth with a bases-loaded walk, securing the 13-0 victory.

The Warriors hit the road to open PSAC East play against No. 19 Kutztown in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 18, with first pitches set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
