EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Lea Stefanovic has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week following an impressive 3-1 performance over the weekend against nationally ranked opponent Goldey-Beacom and Molloy.
The Greece native showcased her talent in No. 2 singles, earning decisive victories over Zehra Canbaz of Goldey-Beacom (6-2, 6-4) and Erin Sanchez of Molloy (6-4, 4-6, 10-1). Stefanovic's strong showing helped solidify her status as a rising star in the conference.
In doubles action, Stefanovic and her partner faced a tough challenge from Goldey-Beacom, suffering a defeat in their match. However, they bounced back in spectacular fashion, dominating Alice Fartushynska and Ashley Bonilla from Molloy with a 6-0 sweep.
Stefanovic's performance earned her recognition as the second Warrior to receive PSAC weekly honors this season, joining
Marketa Beladova, who was honored earlier in the year.
The East Stroudsburg University tennis team will next compete at Messiah University on Wednesday, March 26th, at 3:30 p.m., as they continue to prepare for the start of the PSAC regular season.
