LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced Friday afternoon that the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team earned two all-conference honors.
Brie Droege was named Freshman of the Year after playing in 28 games and starting 27 for the Warriors. The Columbia, Pennsylvania, native recorded 310 points, 113 rebounds, and 47 assists, averaging 11.1 points per game. Defensively, she contributed 35 steals and eight blocks in 785 minutes played during her first season. Droege becomes the fifth player in program history to earn the award, joining Jill Bittner (1995), Jackie Yandrisevits (2006), Jhazmin Brown (2007) and Jessica Martin (2015).
Following an historic senior season,
Emily Chmiel was selected to the All-PSAC East First Team. She led the conference in points per game (22.3) and rebounds per game (12.3), ranked third in field goal percentage (52%), and finished seventh in blocked shots. Nationally, she leads all of Division II in double-doubles, ranks third in rebounds per game and is fifth in points per game. Chmiel also broke the program's single-season scoring record, surpassing Stacy Perryman's 30-year mark. This season Chmiel earned seven PSAC East Athlete of the week honors and one PSAC East defensive Athlete of the Week honor.
