Warriors Take Down Golden Rams with Pitching, Power, and Precision

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The No. 9 nationally ranked East Stroudsburg University softball team put on a show against West Chester University, taking down the Golden Rams in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader. Behind dominant pitching and clutch hitting, the Warriors secured 7-0 and 11-3 victories, pushing their season record to 27-5.

Game 1:
Sarah Davenport was untouchable in the opening game, throwing her 16th complete game and 7th shutout of the season. With only three hits recorded against her, Davenport struck out seventeen, and did not allow a single Golden Ram runner to reach third base.

At the plate, the Warriors wasted no time setting the tone in their dominant win, plating three runs in the first inning.

Tatum Kresley got the scoring started with an RBI groundout, bringing home Taylor Lipkins. A fielding error by the Golden Rams extended the inning, allowing Tulana Mingin to score, followed by a sacrifice fly from Kinsley Proepper that brought in Abigail Weirich for a quick 3-0 lead.

Weirich stayed hot in the second inning, launching a two-run homer to center field, stretching the lead to 5-0. The Warriors added the finishing touches in the sixth inning when Delaney Ridgell crushed a two-run shot to left, capping the 7-0 win.

Game 2:
The East Stroudsburg University offense was on full display in game 2, with five home runs hit by five different players.

The scoring started in the second inning when Weirich crossed the plate on a wild pitch, followed by a solo home run from Proepper to put ESU up 2-0. The long ball continued to be the story in the third, as Maddy Pritchard launched a solo shot to left before A. Weirich crushed a 3-run homer. Ridgell kept the power surge going with another home run to left, making it 7-0.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Mingin, but West Chester responded with a 3-run homer to cut the deficit to 8-3.

ESU wasted no time regaining momentum, tacking on three more runs in the fifth, moving the score to 11-3.

Warriors are back in action with a PSAC doubleheader at Bloomsburg on April 4th at 2:00 & 4:00 PM.
