Seven Warriors Earn All-PSAC Honors; Simonetti Named Defensive Player of the Year, Kauffman Claims Freshman of the Year

4/29/2025 12:20:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg University women's lacrosse team capped off a standout regular season with multiple players earning All-PSAC honors, highlighted by senior goalkeeper Abby Simonetti being named PSAC Defensive Player of the Year and freshman attacker Sadie Kauffman earning PSAC Freshman of the Year.

Simonetti, delivered a dominant season with a .572 save percentage, a 9.41 goals-against average, and 207 saves across 17 games. She leads all of Division II in save percentage and tops the PSAC in total saves. Her consistent performance and veteran leadership helped guide the Warriors to a 13-4 overall record and a 10-2 mark in conference play.

Kauffman made an immediate impact in her debut season, leading the team with 80 goals—second-most in the PSAC—and adding 25 assists for a staggering 105 points. She also recorded 89 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. Kauffman became the first freshman in program history to reach 100 points and is the only freshman across all NCAA divisions to hit that mark this season. She was the only freshman to earn All-PSAC honors.

Simonetti and Kauffman were both named First Team All-PSAC, joined by:

Lauren Hallman, Jr., Midfielder – 36 goals, 13 assists, 27 ground balls; a two-way presence all season.

Molly Atwell, So., Defender – Team-high 29 caused turnovers, along with 28 draw controls and 22 ground balls.

Three Warriors received Second Team All-PSAC recognition:

Ariana Tucci, So., Attack – A Longwood transfer who totaled 46 goals, 18 assists and 64 points.

Taylor Vara, Sr., Defender – 27 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers in a leadership role.

Emily Varilla, Jr., Defender – In her first season at ESU, tallied 33 draw controls, 27 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.

With postseason play ahead, the Warriors now turn their focus to the PSAC Tournament. ESU will host Millersville in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 29, at Whitenight Field at 4 p.m.
