STROUDSBURG – The 10th-ranked East Stroudsburg University baseball team extended its win streak to nine games with a 6-1 victory over Pace in a nine-inning affair on Wednesday afternoon at Creekview Park.
The Warriors, who scored six runs on 13 hits, improved to 25-6 overall, while the Setters dropped to 16-13 on the season. Eight ESU pitchers combined to limit Pace to one unearned run on six hits, striking out eight.
Batting Notables
- Reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week Dennis Pierce finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and junior Shanley Wall went 3-for-5 with two runs scored
- Redshirt sophomore Chaise Albus was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored, while redshirt juniors Parker Frey and Walker Zampella each went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI
- Senior Jack Rothenhausler, who broke the ESU program record for career RBIs in last weekend's series finale against Mansfield with his 169th, finished 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Graduate student Francisco Taveras (1-for-4) and junior Connor Reilly (three walks) each scored a run.

- The Warriors used eight different pitchers to navigate today's midweek game as freshman Greyson Norris (1-0) was credited with his first career win, yielding one unearned run on one hit in 2.0 innings pitched
- Over the final 7.0 innings, freshman Cole Dymek (1.0 inning, one strikeout), redshirt freshman Ryan Cavanaugh (1.0 inning), sophomore Jake Albert (1.0 inning, two strikeouts), sophomore Jack Bacolo (1.0 inning, two strikeouts), freshman Caden Leonard (0.2 innings, one strikeout), sophomore Johansel Brito (1.1 innings, one strikeout) and redshirt junior Patrick Yoder (1.0 inning, one strikeout) limited the Setters to zero runs on five hits
How it Happened – ESU 6, Pace 1
Pace put together a two-out rally in the top of the first inning as Anthony Labita doubled before Matthew Franco delivered an RBI single to give the Setters a 1-0 lead.
ESU answered in the bottom of the first inning as the Warriors scored two runs on three hits to jump ahead, 2-1. Wall came around to score on an RBI single from Frey after drawing a walk and Zampella delivered a run-scoring base hit.
With one out in the bottom of the second inning, ESU extended its lead to 3-1 as Taveras singled before coming around to score on Pierce's RBI double.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, ESU stretched its advantage to 4-1 following an RBI from Pierce that plated Reilly, who led off the frame with a walk.
ESU added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the final score 6-1, as Rothenhausler recorded a two-run single to bring home Wall and Albus, who opened the frame with a single and double, respectively.
