EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – No. 9
ESU Softball sweeps the PSAC East double header versus No. 16 Kutztown University with finals scores of 5-2 and 7-4.
Kinsley Proepper broke the freshman home run record with a solo shot in the 4
th inning.
Batting Notables:

- Sarah Davenport improves to 21-0 on the season with her complete game win against No. 16 Kutztown University. She had 14 strikeouts on the day.
- Faith Troyer went the full seven innings for a complete game win. She had 6 strikeouts on the day.
How it Happened: ESU 5, Kutztown 2
No. 16 Kutztown put the first runs on the board in the 3
rd inning with a 2-run homer from Emily Henn.
Warriors were able to answer with one run in the 3
rd, cutting the lead to 2-1.
In the bottom of the 4
th inning, Warriors tied the game at 2-2 with a solo home run from Proepper.
ESU took the lead for the first time in the 6
th inning with an RBI single from
Tatum Kresley and a 2 RBI triple from Weirich. Warriors closed the 6
th inning with a 5-3 lead, which they held onto to finish the game.
How it Happened: ESU 7, Kutztown 4
Both teams posted crooked numbers in the first inning. Kutztown got off to a quick start, scoring three runs in the top half of the first inning, scoring on a hit by pitch, then a 2 RBI single from Sarah Harvat.
ESU answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning, scoring 5 runs. The first run came across after Weirich reached on an error, advancing all base runners. Master was hit by a pitch, scoring Kresley from third. Proepper singled and advanced to second on an error, resulting in 2 RBIs. The final run of the inning came from a sac fly hit by Maddie Pritchard, scoring Master from third.
The score remained 5-3 until the fifth inning when ESU tacked on two more security runs off RBI hits from Master and Proepper.
Kutztown had an unsuccessful comeback in the top half of the seventh, posting one more run, to close out the game at 7-4.
Warriors are set to take the diamond again on Friday, April 11
th for a PSAC East double header at Shippensburg. First pitch is at 1:00 pm, game two will start at 3:00 pm.
