STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team saw its historic season come to an end on Saturday with a 10–5 loss to Shippensburg in the NCAA Atlantic Regional at Creekview Park.
The Warriors (48-12-1) opened the day with a 2–1 elimination game win over West Chester (33-19) before falling to the Raiders (34-20) in the evening contest.
The 2025 campaign marked another record-breaking season for ESU, as the Warriors set a new program record with 48 wins, captured their third consecutive PSAC East title, and claimed their first PSAC Championship since 1980.
Game Highlights
Taylor Lipkins totaled three hits across both games, including a triple and an RBI single, notching her third multi-hit performance in the last four contests.
Shannon Edelman and
Tulana Mingin each recorded two hits and two RBIs against Shippensburg. Edelman's RBIs came on a two-run double.
Tatum Kresley added two hits on the day, including an RBI single.
Delaney Ridgell hit an RBI and finished the season with 62 RBIs, breaking the single-season program record.
Abigail Weirich, who previously held the record, concluded the year with 61 RBIs.
Sarah Davenport pitched 12 total innings on the day, striking out 13 and allowing just three earned runs. She threw six consecutive no-hit innings against West Chester and earned her program-record 57th career win.
How It Happened
In the first game, ESU jumped out early. Lipkins led off with a triple and was driven in by a Kresley single. Ridgell followed with an RBI double to score Kresley, giving ESU a 2–0 lead. Davenport held the Golden Rams hitless through six innings, surrendering one hit in the seventh before closing out the 2–1 win.
The second game against Shippensburg turned into a slugfest. After falling behind 1–0, ESU tied the game in the third with an RBI single by Mingin. The Warriors then surged ahead in the fourth with three more runs — a two-RBI double from Edelman, an RBI single by Lipkins, and another run-scoring play from Mingin made it 5–1. However, the Raiders responded with nine unanswered runs to rally for a 10–5 win and advance to the Atlantic Super Regional.
A Historic Senior Class
The Warriors' five seniors —
Taylor Lipkins,
Shannon Edelman,
Abigail Weirich,
Katie Master, and
Abbie Landrum — were honored earlier this season on Senior Day and leave behind a lasting legacy after helping lead East Stroudsburg to one of the most successful stretches in program history.
Taylor Lipkins is a PSAC Champion Scholar, All-PSAC and All-CACC selection, PSAC Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-District honoree, and Dean's List student. She broke ESU's single-season hits record and joined the exclusive 200-hit club, finishing her career with 235 hits.
Shannon Edelman, a consistent Dean's List honoree, wrapped up her Warrior career with 99 hits, 67 RBIs, 26 doubles, and seven home runs, making a significant impact both on and off the field.
Katie Master departs as the program's all-time home run leader. She also tied the single-season home run record and ends her career as the Warriors' leader in slugging percentage (.567).
Abbie Landrum was a standout both athletically and academically, earning NFCA First Team All-Region, ECC First Team, and Easton/NFCA Scholar All-America honors. She finishes her career ranked fourth all-time in program history in saves.
Abigail Weirich, a two-time All-PSAC selection, PSAC East Athlete of the Year in 2025, PSAC Scholar-Athlete, and Dean's List honoree, rewrote the ESU record book. She holds career records for RBIs and stolen bases, is the single-season record holder for total bases, previously held the single-season RBI record, tied the program's single-season record for extra-base hits, and is a member of the 200-hit club, ending with 213 hits.
