Simonetti, Kauffman Earn All-America Honors from IWLCA, USA Lacrosse

5/21/2025 1:13:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior goalkeeper Abby Simonetti and freshman attack Sadie Kauffman earned NCAA Division II All-America status for standout 2025 seasons for the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse program from two national organizations, IWLCA (Coaches) and USA Lacrosse.

Simonetti (1st team USA Lacrosse, 2nd team IWLCA) closes her career as a two-time All-America selection, previously earning first team recognition from the IWLCA last season.

Kauffman (1st team IWLCA, 2nd team USA Lacrosse) ranks in the top five in DII in goals and points after a record-setting freshman season, and is the only freshman among the 48 All-America selections on the IWLCA list.

ESU has multiple All-America honorees for the eighth straight season, mirroring the Warriors' eight consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances under head coach Xeni Barakos-Yoder.

Kauffman is the 13th Warrior to be named All-America in that stretch, and Simonetti is the seventh of those 13 to be honored in multiple seasons, along with midfielder Chessie Rahmer (2017-18), goalkeeper Tatyana Petteway (2017, 2019, 2021), attack Krista Mitarotonda (2018-19), midfielder Emma Rufolo (2018-19), defender Maggie Sell (2022-23) and midfielder Emily Mitarotonda (2021-24).

The Warriors outscored their opponents 298-198 on their way to a 15-6 record, with three losses coming to regional champion Slippery Rock – 12-6 in the regular season, 12-11 (OT) in the PSAC semifinals and 9-6 in the NCAA Tournament.

Simonetti (Millington, Md./Queen Anne's County), also named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year, led DII in save percentage for the second consecutive season at .560, following a mark of .598 in 2024. She also ranked seventh in DII with 11.7 saves per game, and ESU opponents were just 37-for-107 on free position opportunities.

ESU has had an All-America goalkeeper in six of the last eight seasons – Petteway in 2017, 2019 and 2021, Riley DiFiore in 2023 and Simonetti in 2024 and 2025, both of her seasons at ESU after transferring from UMBC.

Kauffman (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur) set school records for goals (103) and points (129), breaking marks of 98 goals and 128 points set by Emily Mitarotonda last season. She ranks third in DII in goals and fourth in points, recorded at least four goals in 18 of ESU's 21 games, and had 23 goals across four postseason games – seven in both PSAC Tournament games, seven vs. Fairmont State in an 18-8 win in the NCAA Tournament first round, and two vs. Slippery Rock in the regional semifinal. Kauffman converted 27-of-36 free position shots, led ESU with 97 draw controls, and had 23 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls.

She is the third ESU freshman to be named All-America under Barakos-Yoder, joining Krista Mitarotonda in 2018 and Emily Mitarotonda in 2021.
