Kauffman Caps Sophomore Season With PSAC Spring Top 10 Award

6/4/2026 2:30:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Following one of the best individual seasons in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's lacrosse history, the conference announced Thursday afternoon that it named Sadie Kauffman to its Spring Top 10 list.

The PSAC Top 10 was initiated in the 1998-99 academic year and is awarded to those men and women student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and athletic competition. The Top 10 Awards, selected by the PSAC's athletics communications professionals, recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as in the arena of competition. The conference designates Top 10 Award winners after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter, and spring. To be a candidate for the Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (as of Fall 2009 awards) and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.

Kauffman, a sophomore Early Childhood Education major, has a 3.883 cumulative GPA.

Winning the award in her first eligible season, Kauffman has taken home nearly every accolade imaginable for her sophomore campaign. With her national awards being headlined by earning Attacker of the Year for Division II by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), she was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse All-American First Teams, IWLCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, and Division II Offensive Player of the Week four separate times, twice each, by the IWLCA and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

When it came to conference recognition, there was no one more decorated in either division than the Ocean City native. After winning PSAC East Freshman of the Year last season, she was named the division's Athlete of the Year, easily making the All-PSAC East First Team while raking in a program-record five PSAC East Athlete of the Week awards as well.

Kauffman was the country's top offensive player, leading Division II with 142 points with the second-most goals, 110. Both of those figures set single-season records for ESU women's lacrosse, marks she previously broke in her freshman season. The engine that led the second-best scoring offense in Division II, Kauffman ranked third in shots and shots on goal per game while scoring the fifth-most free-position goals per game. Her play went beyond putting the ball in the back of the net, as she was one of the best players in Division II on draws. Posting 173 this year, 62 more than the previous ESU record, she averaged the seventh-most on a per-game basis, posting 11 games with more draw controls than her 7.86 average, including a career-high 15 against Lock Haven in the PSAC Quarterfinals. Through 43 career games, opposing defenses haven't been able to stop Kauffman, while rarely being able to contain her impact. She sits in second and third place for active goals and points per game in Division II, has had a multi-goal game in every appearance of her career, with 40 of those being hat tricks.

Kauffman and ESU enjoyed the best season in program history in 2026, making it to the NCAA Semifinals as the team tied its record for wins and . On their way to the first undefeated regular season ever for the Warriors, ESU defeated four top-25 ranked teams in their first six wins, including a three-game stretch of scoring 20-plus goals each time against IUP, Georgian Court, and No. 14 Adelphi. Kauffman then opened up conference play with a 10-point performance at Kutztown, her first of three on the season. The next time came against the No. 10 West Chester Golden Rams, where she tallied seven goals and three assists in an 18-12 win at home that cemented the Warriors as a top-10 team in the country. In the Atlantic Region Tournament against the same two foes, Kauffman found another gear to push ESU to its fifth region championship. Her five-goal, two-assist outing helped the Warriors win, 23-15, over West Chester, advancing them to the NCAA Quarterfinals. She paced all players in goals that game while leading ESU to its most goals in an NCAA Tournament game and the largest margin of victory all-time over West Chester. With a spot to the Final Four on the line, Kauffman was the best player on the field in ESU's fourth game of the season versus Kutztown. She scored a career-high nine goals, with every attempt on target beating the Golden Bears' goalie. Even more impressive, four of her goals came within 20 seconds of play restarting, as four of Kauffman's 14 draw controls translated directly to her scoring immediately after.

Kauffman becomes ESU lacrosse's fifth PSAC Top 10 Award winner, joining Emily Mitarotonda (2024), Kayleigh Pokrivka (2022), Kristin Restivo (2000), and Jen Fluck (1998), and the 66th Warrior to earn the honor. ESU's 66 total selections are the fourth-most in the PSAC, trailing West Chester, Shippensburg, and IUP.
