East Stroudsburg, PA – East Stroudsburg University softball continued to assert its presence on the national and international stage, as both current and former Warrior standouts recently competed at the esteemed Canada Cup tournament, representing the national teams of New Zealand and Ukraine.
New Zealand National Team Stars: Denva Shaw-Tait and Lace Tangianau

Denva Shaw-Tait, who graduated following a standout five-season career, took center stage at the Canada Cup as a leading force for the New Zealand national team. Named
New Zealand's Player of the Tournament, Shaw-Tait's performance exemplified the high-caliber talent cultivated at ESU. Throughout her collegiate career, she played in 211 games, amassing 180 hits, 40 doubles, five triples, and 14 home runs. In her penultimate season (2023), she posted a .321 batting average and helped the Warriors reach a program-best No. 5 national ranking in the NFCA Coaches Poll.
Joining her on Team New Zealand was current ESU Warrior
Lace Tangianau, a dynamic utility player who contributed to the Warriors' 2024 PSAC Conference Championship. Tangianau appeared in 21 games for ESU during the season, tallying 10 hits—including a home run against Bloomfield—and showcasing her versatility both offensively and defensively.
Kaitlyn Caleen Represents Ukraine

Kaitlyn Caleen brought her decorated collegiate career to the international stage, suiting up for the Ukraine national team at the Canada Cup. The standout catcher earned First Team All-PSAC East honors as a sophomore and was the first ESU freshman since 2015 to receive All-PSAC recognition. Over 148 games, she recorded a .269 batting average and ranks among ESU's all-time leaders in OBP (.405), slugging (.448), home runs (8), RBIs (68), and walks (61). Her 2019 season remains one of the strongest in program history, with record-setting marks for RBIs (36) and walks (30).  Since graduation, Caleen has played professionally with the Twins in Oosterhout, Netherlands, the same club where head coach
Jaime Wohlbach once played.
These international accomplishments reinforce the strength and global reach of ESU's softball program, which continues to develop top-tier talent capable of performing on the world stage.
