MANSFIELD, Pa. – Senior
Kerry Kaufman scored the game's lone goal in the third quarter to lift the No. 3 East Stroudsburg University field hockey team over No. 9 Mansfield in a nonconference game on Wednesday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.
The Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season while the Mountaineers dropped to 2-1 overall.
ESU improved to 45-6 all-time against Mansfield dating back to 1983 and has won now 22 straight games against the Mounties since 2008.
Notables
- Kaufman, credited with her third career game-winner, scored her first goal of the season at the 38:11 mark and 12th of her career.
- ESU outshot Mansfield 16-6 overall and 11-2 on goal, but the Mounties held a 10-8 edge in penalty corners.
- Junior goalkeepers Sydney Pope and Jet Vermeulen combined for ESU's second straight shutout, with Pope making two saves in the first half.
