ESU Announces Incoming Class of Men’s Soccer Newcomers

East Stroudsburg, Pa — East Stroudsburg University proudly welcomes a diverse and talented class of new athletes joining the Warriors men's soccer program for the upcoming season. These student-athletes hail from across the United States and around the globe, bringing a wealth of experience, accolades, and ambition as they prepare to compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The incoming group includes:
  • Daniel Oliveira (Abington, PA): A decorated right back, Oliveira was a four-time Liberty Division champion at Abington Senior High School, earning All-State, Regional All-American, and SOL Player of the Year honors.
  • Miguel Velez (Staten Island, NY): Velez, a center back and National Honor Society member from Monsignor Farrell High School, brings a strong defensive presence to the roster.
  • Jacob van Lierop (Schnecksville, PA): Known as "Jake," this midfielder and forward scored an impressive 74 goals in a single season and helped Northwestern Lehigh win two state championships.
  • Jack Mauro (Allentown, PA): Mauro, a center midfielder from Northwestern Lehigh, is an All-State player and National Honor Society member, with a history of academic and athletic excellence.
  • Filip Statescu (Bucharest, Romania): This freshman defender and outer back joins from Deutsche Schule Bukarest, where he earned Player of the Tournament honors and led his team to several tournament victories.
  • Joey Scalia (Montreal, QC): Scalia, a midfielder from Hyde School in Maine, is recognized for his playmaking, tallying 20 goals and 19 assists, and earning multiple All-Team honors.
  • Owen Rennie (Bournemouth, England): Rennie, a midfielder from Bradfield College, was part of the ISFA National Team U18 and helped his team to ISFA Cup and Hudl League titles.
  • Camilo Colorado (Bogota, Colombia/Millersville, PA): A sophomore center midfielder, Colorado joins from Harrisburg Community College and is eager to make an impact in the PSAC.
  • Jake Cohen (Somerville, NJ): Cohen, a goalkeeper, was named NJSIAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and earned multiple academic accolades at Somerville High School.
  • Bat-Od Buman-Uchral (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia): A junior forward with international experience, Buman-Uchral played for the U20 Mongolian National Team and won national championships with Shine Mongol High School and Deren FC.
  • Lucas Johansson (Falkenberg, Sweden): Johansson, a defender, played in Sweden's top youth league (U19 Allsvenskan) and brings international experience to the Warriors' back line.
  • David Werel (Allentown, PA): Werel, a midfielder from Allentown Central Catholic, was named to the All-EPC team and played on a district championship squad.
  • Luke Anderson (Wantage, NJ): A sophomore forward and First Team All-State selection, Anderson scored 26 goals in his senior year and was named Sussex County Player of the Year.
  • Jeter Cardona (Mocanaqua, PA): Cardona, a striker from Greater Nanticoke Area High School, brings enthusiasm and ambition to the team.
Head Coach and the rest of the Warriors' staff are excited for the arrival of these accomplished student-athletes, whose collective talent and determination promise to make a significant impact on the field and in the classroom. The ESU men's soccer program looks forward to a thrilling season ahead.
