LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After a dominant performance in the East Stroudsburg University Football team's 31-12 victory over Pace, junior defenseman
Ashton Blose, was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week. Blose was instrumental in the Warriors' defensive effort, compiling a team-high nine tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
Blose's impactful play contributed to a solid team defensive performance that limited Pace to just 167 total yards of offense. The Warriors' defense held Pace to 67 rushing yards on 34 attempts and 100 passing yards on 12 completions from 20 attempts. ESU also forced three Pace turnovers, all resulting in fumbles, and allowed only 11 first downs in the non-conference matchup.
ESU overcame three lightning delays and heavy rain on their road to victory over the Setters. After Pace took an early 9-3 lead in the first quarter, Blose and the Warriors' defense helped shut down any further attacking efforts, to secure a 31-12 victory. Blose was tabbed with a sack on Pace's Ethan Coady, sharing one with
Jake Williamson in the first quarter, and recording another solo sack in the second quarter.
The Warriors, now 1-1 on the season, will be on the road until Homecoming, Saturday, October 11. Their upcoming schedule includes a trip to Gannon on Saturday, September 13, followed by a bye week, then two more road dates at Lock Haven on September 27 and West Chester on October 4.
