WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team opened the season at the West Point Invitational on Saturday. The team had a strong showing, winning three events while adding nine PSAC automatic qualifying marks and three NCAA provisional marks.
Capturing first place finishes in their respective events were Mark Jackson (500m), Jayden Brown (triple jump), and the 4x400 relay team made up of Jackson, Nico Gasque, MIquel Charlery, and Jaylen Morrison.
PSAC Automatic Qualifiers
Track Events
Mark Jackson placed first (1:06.70) and Ajani Miller placed second (1:07.50) to claim the top two finishes in the 500m. Jackson's time marks the programs 10th best finish.
Miguel Charlery qualified for the 60m final with a preliminary time of 6.96. He placed fifth in the finals with a PSAC qualifying time of 6.93 to match the program record he set last season.
The men's relay team consisting of Jackson, Gasque, Charlery, and Morrison led the Warriors with a first place finish and time of 3:25.29.
In the mile, both Aiden Voth and Tim Gale posted top 10 finishes with their third and sixth place finishes.
Field Events
Jayden Brown took first in the triple jump (14.75m) to earn a NCAA Provisional mark, moving him into fifth place on the program's all time list. Daniel Smith and Gabriel Tsayo placed fourth and sixth respectively.
Anthony Voto finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.25m to earn an NCAA Provisional mark and took third in the shot put with a throw of 16.23m. His weight throw ranks fifth best in program history, while his shot put mark stands seventh all time.
In the high jump, Daniel Smith and Kamoni Smith-Johnson earned PSAC qualifying marks with second and third place finishes, respectively. Smith also recorded an NCAA Provisional mark, with his jump ranking third best in program history.
In the long jump, Albert Morton placed second (6.67m), Nasir Heard placed eighth (6.40m), and Joseph Roth placed 15th (6.04m). Chris Costa placed fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 4.50m.
